Here are some of the top state of Hawaii news items making the headlines for Saturday, 08 October 2016:

The Honolulu City Council has approved the construction of a 400-foot tall condominium/hotel complex near the Hawaii Convention Center.  The building will offer business/commercial space and at least 20 affordable rental units.

The first of the last USS Arizona survivors dies at age 94.  Raymond Haery was one of six remaining Arizona survivors of the 07 December 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. He will be interred on the sunken ship with his fellow shipmates, who died on that day nearly 75 years ago.
